CUEMARK

Better voices for running lines on your iPhone or Android phone

When Cuemark Cast runs lines with you, the phone reads everyone else’s parts aloud with its own voices. Every iPhone and Android phone has much better voices than the ones it starts with, free to download. It takes about a minute, and they work offline once they are on the phone.

On an iPhone

  1. Open Settings, then Accessibility.
  2. Tap Read & Speak (called Spoken Content on older iPhones), then Voices, then English.
  3. Pick a UK voice, such as Serena or Daniel.
  4. Download the Premium version, or Enhanced if there is no Premium. They are large, so use Wi-Fi.
  5. Get two or three, so each part can have a voice of its own.

On an Android phone

  1. Open Settings, then Accessibility, then Text-to-speech output.
  2. Tap the gear beside Speech Services by Google, then Install voice data.
  3. Tap English (United Kingdom) and download a voice or two, on Wi-Fi.

On a Samsung phone, Text-to-speech is under Settings ▸ General management. Choose Speech Services by Google as the preferred engine, then follow the steps above. Every phone maker arranges Settings a little differently, so the screens may not match the video exactly.

Then run your lines

Open Cuemark Cast, choose your part and tap Run lines. The best voices on the phone go to the biggest parts first, and Choose a voice for each part lets you change any of them, with a button to hear each one.

Nothing leaves your phone

These voices run on the phone itself. Your script is read aloud on the phone, not sent to an online voice service, so it works in a theatre with no signal and a licensed script stays where it is.
